What the law requires: Under the Bell-to-Bell No Cell Act: • Students are prohibited from using or having access to personal electronic devices, including cell phones and smart watches during the school day, from the first bell to the last bell. • This includes classrooms, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias and other school spaces during instructional hours. • Exemptions for health reasons, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), after school extracurricular activities and emergencies will be honored with appropriate documentation and school approval. • Each public-school district will be required to publish its cell phone policy on its website. Dumas School District’s Approach: • Students must store phones upon arrival. • Phone use will not be permitted between classes or during lunch. • If a student violates the policy, the electronic device will be confiscated and a parent or guardian may be required to retrieve the device. • Repeated violations may lead to additional consequences as outlined in policy. Staying Connected We understand the importance of staying connected. If you need to reach your child during the school day, please contact the school office. The policy will be published in our handbook as well as on the district website. We appreciate your support as we implement this change in accordance with Arkansas state law. Together, we can create a learning environment where every student is focused, safe and ready to succeed.

Today, Ms. Kristen's class set off on an adventure to Camp Read-A-Lot! 🏕️📚 Our little campers had a blast participating in fun, camping-themed reading and math activities—all from the comfort of their very own campsite tents! From cozy corners to creative learning, we made the most of every moment. We are rolling strong here at Reed Elementary! 🌟🔥

Today they uplifted our students at Reed with a magnificent concert featuring Go Mighty Bobcats, Selections from the Lion King, See You Again, and more. The band members' instrument demonstrations sparked excitement among our students, inspiring a new generation of musicians. Next Year's School Calendar

ANNOUNCEMENT DUE TO A RECENT RULING FROM THE ARKANSAS DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION/DEPARTMENT OF ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION (ADE/DESE), DISTRICTS ON A TRADITIONAL CALENDAR CAN NO LONGER ADD MINUTES TO THE INSTRUCTIONAL DAY BY DECREASING TRANSITIONAL TIME BETWEEN CLASS CHANGES. THIS DECISION IMPACTS THE DUMAS SCHOOL DISTRICT. CONSEQUENTLY, TO MAKE UP FOR DAYS MISSED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER, DUMAS SCHOOL DISTRICT MUST ADD TWO DAYS TO THE END OF THE SCHOOL CALENDAR. THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR WILL BE MAY 28, 2025.
